Masters Week: Who’s Talking About the Green Jacket

It’s officially Masters Week and all eyes are Augusta, Georgia as the top names in Golf compete for the green jacket.

Since sporting events always generate buzz on social media, we’re tracking the conversation around the Masters to see who they event is attracting this year.

One Direction’s Niall Horan caddied for Rory McIlory during the Par-3 contest and Twitter exploded. We saw many One Direction fans tweeting about the Masters making One Direction the third favorite brand of tweeters and Niall Horan the in the Top 15 favorite Influencers.

The top influencers are none other than Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Bubba Watson.

Brands have been slow to jump into the social conversation compared to other sporting events like March Madness or the Super Bowl, but Palmetto Cheese-a southern brand-has started a Twitter campaign. Mercedes Benz has tried to capitalize on the conversation and as it turns out, the Masters Twitter audience is 3x more likely to like Mercedes compared to the Twitter average.
