Social media has taken off in the sports industry and gained a lot of attention especially in college sports. The NCAA has put new rules in place specific to recruiting.

But since National Signing Day is referred to as Christmas in the sports world, Twitter exploded yesterday with “Welcome” messages and rankings of each recruiting class.

The users that tweeted about Signing Day were highly socially connected, with an average of 1.3 thousand connections across all social platforms.

Most users were between the ages of 26–35 and the majority were 18–45, with only 16% of the audience above 45.

College Football is big in the south and Georgia was well represented in our analysis with 16% of the tweets from Georgia, specifically Atlanta and Athens, 6% of the tweets from each of the two cities.
